Kevin Smith says he “cried the entire time” of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s wedding at Affleck’s Atlanta-area estate.
The director, 52, spoke exclusively to ET Canada about the couple’s wedding celebration on August 21: the second; Ben and Jen were legally married in Las Vegas on July 17, and were a little coy when asked if Affleck mentioned it in his wedding speech.
“I put up a couple of pictures of myself and my friends, my wife and Jay [Mewes] and Jay Jordan’s wife [Mansanto] in white suits on both Twitter and Instagram, I never said what I was doing at all,” Smith explained. about her social media posts that led people to believe she attended Bennifer 2.0’s nuptials.
“And I just read a bunch of articles telling me I went to Ben Affleck’s wedding, man. Those two things seem merged.” He joked, “I was just dressed in white.”
Realizing that he wasn’t fooling anyone with his no denial denial, Smith added, “That being said, if I had been at that wedding, fuck, was it one of the most beautiful events I’ve ever been to in my life?”
“I’m a crybaby,” he continued. “I cry all the time. I cry watching episodes of ‘The Flash’. I cry watching ‘Degrassi’ for God’s sake. But I cried the whole time because it was fucking beautiful. So beautiful.”
Smith and Affleck worked together on several of Smith’s films, including “Chasing Amy,” “Dogma,” “Jersey Girl,” and “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.” The couple, who weren’t always on the best of terms, recently became close again.
